Yearscapes is a free tool for planning a yard and seeing how it might grow over time. This page explains what we collect and how we use it, in plain language.
What we collect
- Account info — your email address, used to sign in and to contact you about your account. You can sign in with an email and password, or with Google. If you use Google, Google shares some basic profile info (name, email, profile photo) with our authentication provider, Supabase, as part of that sign-in — we only ever use the email address ourselves, nothing else Google shares. If you use an email and password instead, your password is handled entirely by Supabase and is never stored by us in plain text.
- Your plan — the yard size and hardiness zone you enter, and anything you place on your plan (beds, hardscape features, plants). This is used only to show your own plan back to you.
We don't ask for your home address or precise location. Yard size and hardiness zone are numbers you type in yourself, not derived from your location.
Sharing a plan
You can generate a read-only link to a specific plan and share it with anyone. Anyone with that link can view the plan (not edit it) until you revoke it. Don't share a link to a plan you don't want others to see.
Third parties
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in (including Google sign-in, on our behalf).
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google — see Google's own Privacy Policy for how they handle your data on their end.
- OpenAI generates the plant/tree illustrations shown in the app. It only ever receives plant/product information (species, size, etc.) to generate an image from — never your account info or anything about your specific plan.
Some product links in the app may in the future be affiliate links to plant retailers — see our Terms of Service for how those work. We don't currently use any analytics or advertising trackers.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your plan stays in your account until you delete it. There isn't a self-serve "delete my account" button yet — email us (below) and we'll remove your account and everything in it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page.
